Blending together the digital and physical worlds of Dunkin’
Smarter Packaging
Using emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality, we created three experiences to make you savor going to Dunkin’ even more. It made sense to use packaging as an extension of the brand, and foster genuine engagement with customers through that connected layer.
Our initiative of designing interactive packaging allows users to connect in deeper and richer ways to the brand.
The Process
I used several different augmented reality programs, including Aurasma, Augment, and Blippar. Blippar was the only tool that enabled full customization with code, allowing me to build all 3 AR experiences using JavaScript.
Concept 1: Tic-Tac-Toe
Bored and waiting in line? Scan your DD Card and unlock a game of Tic-Tac-Toe. Have what it takes to beat the AI? Win and get rewarded a free beverage!
Concept 2: Patriot's No.1 Fan
Show your support and celebrate Dunkin’ Donuts “Patriots Win, You Win” campaign with New England Patriot’s Rob Gronkowski. Snap and share your victory pose!
Concept 3: Pumpkin Builder
Show Dunkin’ your creative side by celebrating Halloween with a box of donuts and a mess-free jack-o-latern carving.
Get Up & Goal VR
The clients really enjoyed The Patriots AR prototype but wanted an interactive experience that leveraged the NHL partnership and drive DD Perks awareness and acquisition. Working along side our Swedish office, we developed and designed an immersive VR experience using Unity that would allow NHL DD Perks spectators a chance to earn points and prizes for participating in our VR game.
Booth Design
We wanted to design a booth that would compliment the VR experience but also spread brand awareness and entice spectators to enroll in DD Perks. The booth is equipped with leaderboards harrowing VR play-by-plays as well as a food and drink sampling bar and multiple devices connected to WiFi that enables visitors to enroll in DD Perks.
